Caring for Those Who Serve: Worker Wellness in the CNH District

Worker Wellness is vital for our church workers with the ever changing landscape of ministry work. It is a priority of the CNH District to walk alongside you in the journey to become healthier physically and emotionally so you can best serve your community. No matter where you are in the process, we have resources available to help you heal and grow.

The Counseling & Coaching initiative was created to support pastors, teachers, DCEs, school administrators, and their families. Rooted in faith and guided by Galatians 6:2, the program provides confidential, compassionate care for those navigating the unique pressures of

ministry life.

Counseling is provided by licensed mental health professionals and focuses on healing from past hurts by addressing anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, and relationship struggles. It looks backward to process pain and build emotional well-being.

Coaching, by contrast, is forward-focused. Executive coaches help leaders clarify vision, develop professionally, and move purposefully toward their goals not by offering advice, but by guiding and facilitating growth. The coaching track can also be done as a team from a church or school.

Simply put: counseling heals; coaching propels.

Sometimes you just need a trusted colleague to talk to. The CNH District's Church Worker Care Team is exactly that: a group of fellow church professionals available to come alongside District church workers during a challenging time, offering a listening ear and spiritual support.

Think of them as a safe, caring peer rather than a therapist or supervisor. Conversations are fully confidential, free of charge, and take place by phone or video. If professional counseling is needed, Care Team members can provide referrals and resources (this could include a connection to the Counseling and Coaching Program). It's peer support, rooted in faith, right when you need it.

In partnership with Concordia Plans, the CNH District is launching a church worker wellness initiative for 2026 called, "Healthy Living, Healthy Serving."

This year, we want to encourage every church worker in the CNH District to take simple, intentional steps toward a healthier lifestyle—because your well-being matters.
