Two words that define not just our heritage, but our identity and purpose as the CNH District: Concordia and Synod. What do these two words mean to you?
Concordia—“with one heart.”
Synod—“walking together.”
These aren’t just theological terms or historical tags. They are lived realities. They describe who we are as a network of congregations that voluntarily come together—not merely for structural support, but to actively engage in mission and ministry that none of us could carry alone. They remind us that the Gospel always travels best together.
While your congregation is already bringing the light of Christ into your local community (and we praise God for that!), something remarkable happens when we unite as one Church body. Our collective efforts, relationships, and resources become a powerful movement—one that reflects Jesus’ heart for the hurting, the isolated, and the unreached.
A Gospel Movement in Action: 2025 Highlights
Here’s just a glimpse of what together with one heart looks like in real time across California, Nevada, and Hawaii:
Sacramento – Mobile showers, clean clothes, and fresh haircuts are restoring dignity for our unhoused neighbors. A new Bike Ministry has provided over 50 bikes and repaired 65, giving people access to church, jobs, and resources.
San Francisco – An Amharic-speaking congregation is reaching first-generation immigrants and their children with the love and truth of Christ—bridging generations and cultures in one worshiping family.
Through LINC Bay Area – Local missionary leaders are being identified, mentored, and empowered. This grassroots ministry wouldn’t be possible without your collective support.
Santa Cruz – The only Chinese Lutheran ministry in the area is engaging students, families, and visitors with Gospel-centered outreach.
Kaua‘i – A bi-vocational pastor investing in midweek Bible studies, youth confirmation, and discipleship across the island.
Merced – A vibrant Hmong ministry is thriving with weekly volleyball outreach and Gospel conversations. In 2025 alone: 8 baptisms, 1 confirmation, and 3 adults in catechesis. Praise God!
Central Coast – A congregation saw the shifting community needs around them. Originally opening a preschool, they’re now expanding into infant and toddler care—meeting urgent needs and extending Gospel presence.
Multicultural Ministry – In one multilingual, intergenerational congregation in Santa Cruz county, there are bridges being built between English and Spanish-speaking members—forming one family in Christ.
Mandarin-Speaking Ministry (San Francisco) – New believers are being discipled and equipped to share Christ within their own networks—students, families, and neighbors alike.
Looking Forward
This is more than a snapshot of what has been—it’s a glimpse into what’s possible when we walk together with one heart. More church plants, outreach initiatives, cross-cultural ministries, and leadership development projects are already in the pipeline.
Because of you, the CNH District is not a distant institution—it’s a living, breathing network of mission outposts.
Every story above is your story. Every life changed is part of our collective Gospel impact. Together, we are equipping the Church to walk with boldness and compassion into places that need Jesus.
Concordia. Synod. With one heart. Walking together.
And the best is still to come.
