St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tracy, California, continues to find joyful and creative ways to connect with, serve, and bless the community. One of those events is the “Everything Free Sale,” an outreach event where every item is truly free.
This fall marked the church’s fifth Free Sale, and the excitement and generosity surrounding it were as strong as ever. Donations and setup took place on Thursday and Friday, with the big event happening on Saturday, October 11. Members of the church and school were eager to clear out their closets and garages, donating gently used and clean items for others to enjoy.
When community members arrived, many were understandably hesitant. “Free?” they asked, often more than once. The cheerful reply came every time: “Yes, free! If you can use it, or know someone who can, it’s yours!”
The sale featured a wide variety of items, sorted into categories: clothing for men, women, children, toddlers, and infants; toys; books; kitchenware; household goods; frames; shoes; appliances; tools; and even furniture. Volunteers with trucks helped pick up larger donated items and offered to deliver them afterward—at no charge.
The guiding verse for the event came from John 8:36:
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Volunteers wore bright yellow shirts with this verse printed on the back, along with the word “FREE” in large letters—symbolizing both the theme of the event and the spiritual truth behind it.
Each visitor received a postcard with information about St. Paul’s Church and Bella Vista Ministry, inviting them to learn more about the church’s mission and programs.
This meaningful outreach has been faithfully organized one to two times a year by Ana Arroyo and Jodi Seifert, whose leadership and dedication have helped it grow into a much-loved community tradition.
