Held every three years since 1980, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod National Youth Gathering provides thousands of high school age youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to be encouraged in their walk with Jesus Christ and learn about the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity.

The Gathering is more than the five days of the event. The preparation process for the Gathering brings together young people and supportive adults to encourage each other in their baptismal identity. The Gathering provides young people a vision of the vastness of Christ’s church and equips them for vocational service as they continue their walk with Jesus.

This year (July 18-23), the National Youth Gathering was held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Over 20,000 youth and supporting adults participated in five days of Bible study, youth sessions, servant events, interactive games, exhibitors from various Christian organizations, and nightly mass events. The evening mass events consisted of praise songs, skits, games, inspirational speakers, and special performances from Flame and Rend Collective. The National Youth Gathering ended with a full worship service including the Lord’s Supper. The CNH District was represented by almost 300 youth and adults. The CNH District youth additionally had the opportunity to enjoy a special outing together on a Mississippi River steamboat cruise. We thank Jen de la Motte, DCE at Good Shepherd Turlock and our NYG District Coordinator, who did a fabulous job of providing important information and helping to plan for our District’s participation.
