Save the Date: 29th Annual Best Practices in Transitional Interim Ministry

Longstanding TIM models are being challenged and new ones need to be explored. And that’s exactly what’s happening at Best Practices in January 2027! As Practitioners we need to adapt to these challenges. It’s who we are. It’s what we do. It’s in our leadership DNA.

But how do we do it? Where do we begin? At this year’s event we will explore this with Practitioners who are already building what could be the next generation of TIM models. New Ministry Models will be presented live by the Practitioner who is pioneering it, and you get a chance to test drive it.

Each session exploring a New Ministry Model begins with the Presenter giving a quick overview of his model. He then turns it over to the Tables for collaborative work. Tables share ideas and build strategies that could raise the model to another level. Then we take the best of it home. This is not a lecture series. It is a working group.

This year the TIM Toolbox also takes on a tool a lot of us are using already and may not be completely aware of it. Two sessions will put AI on the TIP’s desk: how to set it up for this work, and how to use it on the tasks that eat up your time. It is a tool to understand and use, not to fear and avoid. It is how we get hours back for the congregations we serve. These are not tech sessions.

And as always, we will have other sessions such as the Ethical Practitioner, Critical Incident Report, and this year a Phase 2 TIM Panel on information-gathering, cottage meetings, home visits, and task forces.

This event will be hosted at the CNH District offices in Livermore, CA, Monday noon to Wednesday noon.

Who Is Welcome?

The Western Alliance for Transitional Interim Ministry welcomes TIM practitioners, district representatives, circuit visitors, and all LCMS clergy across the country who are working through the same issues we’re facing now.
