CNH Represented Big at the 2025 LCMS Youth Gathering

The 2025 LCMS Youth Gathering in New Orleans was one for the books! From powerful worship and big laughs to deep conversations and life-changing moments, it was a week our youth and adult leaders won’t soon forget. And the CNH District didn’t just show up—we showed up big.

We had students and leaders all over the place, but we also had some familiar faces sharing the stage.

On Night 4, Bethany Hamilton, member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and world-renowned surfer, took the main stage and delivered a message that truly hit home. She spoke with honesty and heart about faith, resilience, and what it means to trust God through tough times. Her acronym A.D.A.P.T. was simple, memorable, and lined up perfectly with the Gathering’s theme of ENDURE from Hebrews 12:1–2. Bethany reminded us all that with our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can ride out any wave.

Rev. Dr. Terry Chan led a breakout session on Bridging the Cultural Gap with the Gospel, where he helped students unpack why cultural differences exist and how we can stop making assumptions and start building bridges. His session challenged and encouraged students to see diversity not as a barrier, but as an opportunity to share the love of Christ in deeper ways.

Rev. James Cleland brought a fun and thoughtful perspective with his session on Discipleship Lessons from RPGs and Online Gaming. He connected the dots between epic quests and spiritual growth, showing how—even more than in any game—Jesus is the one who calls, equips, and carries us through every battle we face in life.

We’re incredibly thankful for the voices from CNH who stepped up to lead and inspire, and for everyone who helped make this Gathering unforgettable. From main stage moments to hallway conversations, God was at work—and CNH was right in the middle of it.
