St. John's, Bakersfield Completes Mission Trip, Starts New School Year

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bakersfield, California, returned for the third year in a row to the island of Kauai for a mission trip through the organization Praying Pelican. Each year, more students have answered the call to serve, many of them after having just served a week at St. John’s VBS also. This year 40 high school and young adult students went, serving youth camps at two different churches, as well as painting, roofing, and other service projects.
St. John's, Bakersfield Celebrates New School Year with 850+ Participants
St. John’s Lutheran School and Children’s Center in Bakersfield, CA, started its new school year with the theme “Jesus Over Everything,” with around 630 children enrolled in the schools. The Kindergarten through Grade 8 school’s opening chapel on August 11 had so many parents and returning graduates that there were more people than the 850 seats in the St. John’s Worship Center could hold. To God be the glory!
