Private School Leaders Meet with California Legislators

This past week representatives from CAPSO met with legislators in Sacramento to advocate for private schools in California. The California Association of Private Schools Organizations (CAPSO) is an organization that represents the leaders of 24 various religious and secular private school organizations in California, which includes the Education Executives in both the California Nevada Hawaii District and the Pacific Southwest District. One of the important roles of CAPSO is to monitor legislative action in Sacramento, especially those bills in the development stage that could be detrimental to private schools. On March 11, a group from CAPSO met with various California legislators to share information about CAPSO, develop or strengthen relationships, and stress the important place that private schools play in the lives of the 370,000 students in those California schools. CAPSO employs an executive director who is a registered lobbyist and is active in monitoring, and when necessary, working with legislators on bills to make sure that they do not undermine the rights and well-being of private schools.
