Pastor Nathan Linehan’s journey into ministry began in September 2017, when he joined First Lutheran Church in Yuba City as a DCE. There, he worked closely with youth and families, led adult Bible studies, and visited congregation members. The work was meaningful and grounded—but God was preparing him for something more.
In 2019, Pastor Mike, then the pastor at First Lutheran, spoke words that planted a new seed: he believed God was calling Nathan to become a pastor. Together, they explored the possibilities. After reviewing traditional and SMP (Specific Ministry Pastor) routes, they found the Cross-cultural Ministry Center (CMC) path. It proved to be a perfect fit. Nathan began classes in the fall of 2019, serving his vicarage at First Lutheran for all four years. In June 2024, he was officially installed as pastor—continuing his ministry in a fuller, more expansive role.
But his story didn’t stop in Yuba City.
Earlier that year, President Lange reached out with a new opportunity. The longtime pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Colusa was preparing to retire, and there was a need for continued spiritual care in that community. Pastor Linehan visited in April and led worship and shortly after, Bethlehem’s congregational president visited First Lutheran’s leadership team to share the needs of their church. The response was simple and full of grace: We would love to ensure your congregation continues to be cared for.
Since May 2025, Pastor Linehan has been faithfully leading worship in Colusa every Sunday at 1 p.m. It’s more than a time slot—it’s a growing relationship.

Pastor Linehan shared: “One of the most encouraging things for me so far at Colusa has been getting to baptize one of the congregation members' babies. I am truly hoping to be out in the community of Colusa more and getting to know its community and let them know I am leading worship at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.”
Back in Yuba City, First Lutheran continues to flourish under his pastoral leadership. Yet even for those who can’t attend regular morning services, there’s been an unexpected blessing. The 1 p.m. Colusa service has become a third worship option, allowing some members to still gather and receive the Word in community.
In both Yuba City and Colusa, Pastor Linehan’s ministry reflects the beauty of servant leadership, the strength of spiritual connection, and the quiet, powerful ways God works through His people.
