This year, Holy Cross, Los Gatos, put a fresh spin on a church tradition. For decades, the congregation has gathered for its Anniversary Celebration and church picnic on the second Sunday in September. In 2025, the focus shifted outward, with a community picnic held at the front of the property along the main street. This was a new idea that grew out of a vision-framing session with Rev. Paul Ferguson, Jr. (Assistant to the President – Strategic Mission Leadership).
Guests enjoyed a classic picnic spread featuring more than 300 grilled favorites of burgers, hot dogs, and brats along with a generous potluck of sides and desserts, from cupcakes and cookies to homemade pies.
Kids bounced in a jump house, won prizes, and tested their aim at “Shatter the Platter,” a game where baseballs fly at white plastic plates.
About 60 members of Holy Cross joined the fun, along with families from the Children’s Center and the surrounding neighborhood, making the event not only a celebration of the congregation’s history, but also a joyful witness to the community.
