Two projects from Cross Academy in Aiea, HI, Plantachutes: Saving Nature with Parachutes (Reilly & James, 7th) and Stream Mission: Tahitian Prawns (Genevieve 6th) participated in-person and virtually respectively at National American Indian Science & Engineering Fair (NAISEF) at Oklahoma State University from March 28-29th. We are incredibly grateful to the NAISEF/AISES Team for selecting us as a partner school and fully funding student travel to OSU for the 2nd year now.
James and Genevieve are also both members of the church, Our Savior Lutheran Church of Aiea, HI. They are active members, serving as acolytes on Sundays and currently in confirmation class. On the other hand, James and Reilly have been attending the school since PreSchool!
Reilly and James received multiple awards for their project including Best in Category for Environmental Engineering and awards from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and OREEP (Oklahoma Renewable Energy Education Program). James joined a team with students from New Mexico and Oklahoma for the FIIRE Hackathon. The team won first place! Genevieve snagged an Honorable Mention in Animal Sciences for herself too.
Mahalo piha to all the family and teacher support provided to these students. It would not be possible without you. Ho'omaika'i i na haumana!!!
