Bikes Bring Hope - Sacramento Area Collaboration

St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Rocklin partnered with Mercy Holistic Ministry to provide bicycle donations and repair services for people experiencing homelessness. The latest event was held at the Church of Harvest on April 5, 2025.

This partnership, now in its third year, not only donates gently used bicycles but also offers free repairs—giving unhoused individuals a reliable means of transportation. Priority is given to those preparing for job interviews, helping bridge the gap between unemployment and opportunity.

Mercy Holistic Ministry’s mobile shower site offers more than just a place to clean up. The unhoused also receive food, clothing, hygiene kits, prayer, and counseling—meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

“This is about dignity and mobility,” says Berhanu Didanu, Founder of Mercy Holistic Ministry. “A bike can mean showing up to a job interview on time, getting to a doctor’s appointment, or even just having a sense of freedom.”

The program continues to thrive thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers like you. Church members are encouraged to contribute by donating gently used bicycles or by offering their time or financial support.
