66th District Convention Update 

Modesto, CA - March 2003
Nearly 400 participants attended the opening of the 66th Convention of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. "Touching Hearts - Changing Lives" was the convention theme located at the DoubleTree Hotel in Modesto, CA March 28-30, 2003.

NEW PRESIDENT
The Rev. Dr. Robert Newton of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in San Jose, CA, was elected District President to replace the retiring current president, Walt Tietjen. In his first opportunity to address the Convention, President-Elect Rev. Robert Newton expressed how he honored and coveted our prayers. He went on to say, "Although I've been in the CNH District for only five years and don't know many of you, I'm eager and anxious to change that." His vision is to "commit ourselves to the prayer for more harvest workers and sharing the glory of Jesus Christ to those around us."

1ST VICE PRESIDENT ELECTED
The office of the First Vice President has been filled by the election of the Rev. Ted Mueller of St. Luke, Santa Rosa. He replaces outgoing Rev. Ted Zimmerman.
